I am an Artist

I've been getting quite a bit of slack lately for watermarking my photos on this blog, as well as the ones I take and share on Facebook (usually my living history and reenactment photos). It seems some people think that the hard work you do (be it blogging, taking photographs, making digital creations, etc.) should cost them nothing to take and use as they wish.

I'm sorry, but that is NOT how art works.

It takes time, effort, and in many cases money out of your own pocket to create something...so why should you not even be given credit for all that hard work you do? I made this in my frustration today.

If you feel the same, feel free to share this, and spread the word!

  1. As always your work is beautiful! I love everything you do!!! And you are right in watermarking your work. I do it all the time. Credit is due to the artist! I'm glad you're sticking to your guns on this!

  2. I absolutely 100% agree and can't believe anyone would have the nerve to say anything about a watermark, oh my gosh. I've had my ideas (not pics, but ideas) copied from my Etsy shop, and it's soooo not fun. I say more power to you, you're the smart one for protecting your work.

  3. I definitely agree. By watermarking your work you are making a very smart decision. There are too many people out there who take work from others and act as if it's their own.

  5. I agree with you. Don't let other people take what you worked hard on. People don't care and will steal your work if you don't and i think that's wrong.
